Rodolfo Rivera is currently Medical Doctor at the Nephrology Division of the Hospital of Desio
ASST-Brianza in Italy. In addition to the usual clinical activity, he carries out a substantial socio-
health activity in favor of his community.

As President of the Lombardy section of the Italian Kidney Foundation, Dr. Rivera organized
numerous working days dedicated to the early diagnosis, treatment and prevention of kidney
diseases, coordinating interventions on the territory in collaboration with Italian Red Cross,
International Health Corps, and other local authorities such as Health Authorities. As the matter of
fact he recently cooperated with Municipality of metropolitan city of Milan and Lombardy Region.

President 2021-2022 of the Rotary Club Milano Porta Venezia – Italy, in 2017 Dr. Rivera created
"AmaRene", a service dedicated to the prevention of kidney disease by which he has helped to
carry out over 1500 screenings to date for the community in Lombardy.

In 2018, in collaboration with the Guardia di Finanza of Milan and in the context of AmaRene, he
organized and carried out seven days of prevention for arterial hypertension and chronic kidney
disease, screening over 550 soldiers. This project was supported by San Raffaele Vita e Salute
University of Milan and Milan-Bicocca University. Thanks to this propose early diagnosis of
numerous still silent pathologies could be performed.

In March 2020, Dr Rivera became a patient. Struck by interstitial pneumonia from SarsCov2 during
the lockdown of the first wave, he experienced the effects of a still unknown and frightening
disease.

However, after 5 weeks of convalescence he came back to work stronger and motivated than ever.
Still nowadays he is carrying out his commitment in the fight against COVID, not only as a
physician but as a volunteer, as Rotarian and above all as a citizen of a great community which,
maybe for the very first time after second world War is really facing great difficulties and
immeasurable pain.
