AFRICAN YOUTH FOR PEACE DEVELOPMENT AND EMPOWERMENT FOUNDATION, (AFRYDEV) is a youth and Women led nongovernmental, humanitarian and development organization established in 2013 with the mission to serve as a platform for enlightenment and empowerment of youth society for peace and development through active participation by mainstreaming their issues and concerns into national development agenda based on United Nation Sustainable Development Goals.
PEACEBUILDING: AFRYDEV focus on the following issues/program areas as part of our vision of change that drives and promotes safe societies where women, youths, and conflict-affected communities are empowered to reduce crime, prevent recruitment and radicalization of women and youths, including their participation in violence extremist activities, sexual and gender-based violence, while promoting human rights and peacebuilding.
COMMUNITY PEACE BUILDING PROJECT. with the aim to improve and
strengthen social cohesion in insurgency affected communities through peace building advocacies, capacity building and sport activities. The project is currently ongoing in three communities of Fika L.G.A namely; Fika town, Kukargadu and Gadaka. The project is assisting affected communities through social cohesion and recovery initiatives so as to foster and rebuild relationships across boards that can sustain peace and prevent the reoccurrence of violent conflict.
YOUTH PEACE CAMP: The activity aimed at providing platform for positive engagement of youths in community development and promotes their active participation in peace process. The activity has provided youth with broad exposure and experience using fun on various Innovative and creative activities to inculcate spirit of Nationalism, responsible citizenship and social cohesion among youths. This has in turned increase zeal for unity and sense of responsible citizenship among youth in building resilience and reducing vulnerability to violent extremism and terrorism. The activity has directly build capacity of 200 youths and has provided them with basic business skills and economic empowerment package to help them build livelihood.
